The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa (NHA) confirms that at an inquiry held in Durban on 3 September 2025, Jockey R Danielson was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7.  The particulars being that, as the rider of PERILLA, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to PINK PIGEON at the 300m during Race 2 at Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse on 5 July 2025. 

Jockey Danielson pleaded not guilty; however, he was found guilty of the charge. 

After considering the evidence, mitigating factors, and Jockey Danielson’s record in relation to this type of contravention, the Inquiry Board imposed a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of seven (7) days. 

Jockey Danielson has the Right of Appeal against both the finding and the penalty imposed.
