The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Durban on Tuesday, 20 June 2023, Trainer Gareth van Zyl was charged with a contravention of Rule 57.1.1.  The particulars being that he failed to present the passport of VIBE SA to a Stipendiary Steward not later than 60 minutes before the official starting time of Race 1 at Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse on 27 May 2023.  

Trainer van Zyl pleaded guilty to and was found guilty of the charge. 

The Inquiry Board, after considering Mr van Zyl’s record in relation to this Rule and the mitigating factors, ruled that he be fined the sum of R500.00.

Mr van Zyl was given the Right of Appeal against the penalty imposed.
