INVESTIGATION UPDATE – RACEHORSE: NOTABLE
The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa (NHA) confirms that, following an investigation into a urine specimen collected from racehorse NOTABLE, trained by Mr Dominic Zaki, when the racehorse was presented on 24 April 2026 for the purpose of determining whether a suspension imposed in terms of Rule 49.7 may be lifted, the NHA Laboratory has now completed the confirmatory analysis and issued a certificate confirming the presence of the following prohibited substances:
- a local anaesthetic; and
- a stimulant, together with its metabolites.
NOTABLE was withdrawn from Race 4 at Hollywoodbets Greyville on 13 May 2026, whilst under investigation, and was selected for the taking of further analysis specimens on 13 May 2026.
Accordingly, and given the presence of prohibited substances at the time the racehorse was presented on 24 April 2026, the Chief Executive has in terms of Rule 49.7, reimposed a suspension on racehorse NOTABLE with immediate effect, subject to the racehorse performing an 800m public gallop on a race day, to the satisfaction of an NHA Veterinarian, before being permitted to race again.
An Inquiry shall be opened into the alleged contravention of Rule 73.1.4.
