I acknowledge that the National Horseracing Authority (“NHA”) may process my personal information in terms of the Protection of Personal Information Act no 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”). I understand that it is necessary for the NHA to process my personal information to give effect to our contractual relationship. By clicking “I accept’, I hereby provide the NHA with consent to process my personal information. I further acknowledge that the NHA may obtain personal information from third parties for the purposes of fulfilling its agreement with me and agree that my consent extends to obtaining and processing such information.

I acknowledge that the NHA may be required to process my special personal information for statistical purposes and that my consent extends to the processing of such information.

I further acknowledge that the NHA may share my personal information, including special personal information, with applicable regulatory bodies for reporting purposes and with racing operators and agree that my consent extends to include such sharing. The NHA may further make public my personal information for the purposes of publication of applicable racing information and enforcement of its rules.

I note that the NHA will delete or de-identify personal information collected from me pursuant to fulfilling our agreement if it is no longer needed and understand my right to access and correct personal information collected.

In terms of POPIA, the NHA is obligated to provide you with certain information relating to the processing of your personal information at the time we collect it from you. We therefore advise as follows:

• We are required to process your personal information to fulfil our contractual obligations to you. Any such personal information is provided by you on a voluntary basis.
• If you do not provide us with your personal information it may prevent us from fulfilling our contractual obligations to you.
• We may from time to time source your personal information from external sources or third parties in order to comply with regulatory requirements. Such personal information will only be processed as required in terms of applicable legislation.
• We may be required to share your personal information with local or international regulatory authorities, other racing operators, breeder associations and with third parties outside of South Africa. Such transfers of personal information may be to a jurisdiction that does not have the same or a better level of data protection compared to South Africa.
• You have the right to request access to and correction of your personal information as well as to object to the processing of your personal information.
• We will delete or de-identify personal information that it has collected from you if it is no longer required to be retained.
• You have a right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator via email at complaints.IR@justice.gov.za
• Our processing of personal information will be in line with applicable legislation including the Act.
