The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa confirms that at an Inquiry held in Durban on Wednesday, 26 June 2024, Jockey A Mgudlwa was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7.  The particulars being that whilst riding SPY STORY, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to FLIGHT ENGINEER (*S Sosibo) at approximately the 900m in Race 3 at the Vaal Racecourse on 04 June 2024. 

Jockey Mgudlwa pleaded guilty and was found guilty of the charge.  

The Inquiry Board, after considering the mitigating factors presented, imposed a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of 7 days.  

Jockey Mgudlwa waived his Right of Appeal against the severity of the penalty imposed.

Suspension dates: 07 July 2024 to 13 July 2024 (both dates inclusive).
