The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa confirms that at an Inquiry held in Gqeberha on Thursday, 28 November 2024, Jockey Xolane Charles Ndlovu was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7. The particulars being that as the rider of WOMAN OF POWER he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to MONTELENA (C Habib) when he shifted outwards at the 50m in Race 6 at Fairview Racecourse on 22 November 2024.
Jockey Ndlovu pleaded not guilty, but was found guilty of the charge.
The Inquiry Board, after reviewing the evidence and considering both mitigating and aggravating factors, as well as taking Jockey Ndlovu’s record regarding this Rule into account, imposed a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of seven (7) days.
Jockey Ndlovu was given the Right of Appeal against both the finding and penalty imposed.
