The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held at the Vaal Racecourse on 30 September 2021, Jockey Ryan Munger was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7. The particulars being that as the Rider of LESHAWES, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to other runners at approximately the 300m in Race 5, at the Vaal Racecourse on 21 September 2021.
Jockey Munger pleaded not guilty to the charge, but was found guilty as charged.
The Inquiry Board, after considering the mitigating factors and taking Jockey Munger’s record into account, ruled that he be suspended from riding in races for a period of seven days.
Jockey Munger was given the Right of Appeal against both the finding and the penalty imposed.
