INQUIRY – JOCKEY MPUMELELO MJOKA

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Durban on 18 July 2022, Jockey Mpumelelo Mjoka was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7.  The particulars being that whilst riding SIR POM, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to YATA (*S Hlengwa) at the 100m of Race 8 at Hollywoodbets Scottsville Racecourse on 10 July 2022. 

 Jockey Mjoka pleaded guilty and was found guilty of the charge. 

The Inquiry Board after considering the evidence and mitigating factors, imposed a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of 7 days. 

Jockey Mjoka has the Right of Appeal against the penalty imposed.
