The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held at Turffontein Racecourse on 22 September 2022, Jockey S’manga Khumalo was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read with Guideline M on the use of the crop. The particulars being that he misused his crop by striking YOU KNOW WHO more than twelve times during Race 4, at Fairview Racecourse on 9 September 2022.
Jockey Khumalo pleaded guilty and was found guilty of the charge.
The Inquiry Board in assessing penalty, considered the aggravating and mitigating factors, as well as Jockey Khumalo’s recent record pertaining to this type of contravention and suspended him from riding in races for a period of seven days.
Jockey Khumalo was given the Right of Appeal against the penalty imposed.
