The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Johannesburg on Wednesday, 12 July 2023, Jockey C Habib was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7.  The particulars being that whilst riding PRIMROSE PATH, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to IDEAL HEART (*M K Katjedi) and SHAMPIMPI (G Lerena) when he shifted in at approximately the 1300m in Race 1 at Turffontein Racecourse on 2 July 2023.  

Jockey C Habib pleaded not guilty but was found guilty of the charge. 

The Inquiry Board, after considering the mitigating factors presented, ruled that Jockey Habib be suspended from riding in races for a period of seven (7) days. 

Jockey Habib was given the Right of Appeal against both the finding and the penalty imposed.
