The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held at Turffontein Racecourse on 29 September 2022, Jockey S’manga Khumalo was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read with Guideline M on the use of the crop.  The particulars being that he misused his crop by striking PATON’S TEARS more than twelve times during Race 7, at Turffontein Racecourse on 15 September 2022. 


The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Durban on 28 September 2022, Jockey Sean Veale was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7.  The particulars being that as the Rider of LIKE IT HOT, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to NAMIBSROOS (K de Melo) and MIA SOPHIA (C Habib) at the 350m and again at the 200m in Race 1, at Hollywoodbets Scottsville Racecourse on 4 September 2022.


The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held at Turffontein Racecourse on 27 September 2022, Jockey S’manga Khumalo was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read with Guideline M on the use of the crop.  The particulars being that he misused his crop by striking WHITE FANG more than twelve times during Race 4, at Turffontein Racecourse on 15 September 2022.


The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held at Turffontein Racecourse on 22 September 2022, Jockey S’manga Khumalo was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read with Guideline M on the use of the crop.  The particulars being that he misused his crop by striking YOU KNOW WHO more than twelve times during Race 4, at Fairview Racecourse on 9 September 2022. 


The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Johannesburg on 31 August and 1 September 2022, Stable Employee Mr Andrew Fortune was charged with the following contraventions of the Rules of the NHA:- 

1. Rule 72.1.42 – in that he conducted himself in an improper, disrespectful, or abusive manner during a hearing held at the Head Office of the NHA on 27 May 2020. 

The Inquiry Board was informed that Mr Fortune elected to sign an Admission of Guilt before the commencement of the Inquiry, and he was fined the sum of R15 000. 

2. Rule 72.1.25 – in that he conducted himself in an improper manner at Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse on Saturday, 3 July 2021 by swearing at and assaulting a member of the South African Police Services. 

Mr Fortune pleaded not guilty, but was found guilty of the charge. 


The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held on 12 August 2022 at Fairview Racecourse, Jockey Eldin Webber was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7.  The particulars being that as the rider of RATTLE MOUSE, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to MARMARA SEA and GREAT WARRIOR at approximately the 1700m in Race 7 at Fairview Racecourse on 22 July 2022.  


The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Durban on 17 July 2022, Jockey Sean Veale was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M.  The particulars being that he misused his crop by striking BELL STARBUSTER more than 12 times in Race 3 at Hollywoodbets Scottsville Racecourse on 22 June 2022. 


The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Durban on 18 July 2022, Jockey Richard Fourie was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M.  The particulars being that he misused his crop by striking RUNNING RIFLES more than 12 times during Race 4 at Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse on 27 June 2022.
